Born in Munich in 1983, he rose through Bayern Munich’s youth system and went on to become the club’s long-serving captain, leading them to numerous domestic and European honours. Though naturally a right-back, Lahm’s exceptional reading of the game allowed him to excel on the left side of defence and later in midfield, where his precision and discipline stood out. His leadership extended beyond Bayern, as he captained Germany to victory in the 2014 World Cup, the crowning achievement after several strong tournament performances. Calm, professional, and rarely booked, Lahm embodied consistency and respect both on and off the pitch, earning admiration as much for his character as for his footballing skill.
